History & Information

Members of the largest Buddhist sect in Lahaina, the Hongwanji, have been meeting at this mission since 1910. The current building was erected in 1927. Today the mission holds celebrations on New Year's Eve to welcome the new year, in April to commemorate the birth of Buddha, and during the last week of August for the Bon Memorial celebration. The public is welcome to attend these events.
