Gekos are small lizards found all over Hawaii. They are
nocturnal animals, feeding on mostly bugs. Which is why you
always find them gathered around light fixtures, since the
bugs are attracted to light. They are absolutely harmless.
So if you see one in your hotel room, don't worry, it will
eat all of your bugs.
Wild Boars
Wild boars live in the densely forested areas of Hawaii.
They are like large pigs except that they have two large
tusks and are quit aggressive in nature. Wild Boar hunting
is very popular here in Hawaii.
Deer
Believe it or not, we do have deer here in Hawaii. Like the
wild boar, they live in the forested area of Hawaii. They
tend to come out at night on the local golf courses to
graze.
Mongoose
The Mongoose was introduced to Hawaii in the 1800's by the
local people to deal with rat. The only problem, rats are
nocturnal and mongoose sleep at night. What happen there?
Well, they are cute creatures that you will occasionally see
dart across the street.
Hoary Bat
The Hoary Bat is one of two kinds of animals that were not
introduced to Hawaii. They live mostly on Kauai and the Big
Island. Hoary bats feed on insects and, like all bats, they
are nocturnal.
