OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Waianapanapa
State Park lives up to its Hawaiian name
meaning “glistening water.” Right off Hana
Highway, Waianapanapa Beach is situated in
the midst of the vast and beautiful 120-acre
Waianapanapa State Park. This beautiful
black sand beach is a Maui must-see and the
perfect spot for an unparalleled photo
opportunity.
Situated among black lava cliffs and framed
by tropical flora, Waianapanapa Beach
provides dramatic contrasts and colorful
surroundings. Snorkeling and diving are
favorite activities here. Bring your gear
and camp overnight for a lovely night in
nature. If you’re feeling adventurous,
follow the narrow footpath from the west end
and trek for a quarter-mile view you’ll
never forget.
The black sand beach is composed of small,
water-rounded pebbles and the shoreline is
lined with low sea cliffs. When the surf is
up, high surf flows into the bay, creating a
strong shore break and rip currents.
Visitors love to visit the Waiomao caves, a
pair of unique lava tubes filled with pure
blue and green seawater. Check out the
neighboring beach of Honokalani and
experience the wondrous sight of a naturally
curving sea arch. Whether you’re on a family
vacation or romantic getaway, Waianapanapa
is not only fun to say, it makes for a very
memorable visit. |

PLEASE NOTE |
|
| |
|
|
| |
While
Hawaii's beaches can bring much enjoyment,
it is always a good practice to use common
sense while visiting them. Please be aware
of the wave & wind conditions before going
into the water. Mornings are usually best
for swimming, snorkeling or diving. Have
respect for the strength of the waves and be
aware that high surf can come up at any
time. NEVER turn your back to the ocean.
Be careful when exploring any rocky
shorelines. Waves can crash on the rocks and
knock you over easily, and the rocks may
also be sharp when walking on them.
When snorkeling or scuba diving, please have
respect for ocean life, and remember that
the coral reef is alive too. Avoid standing
on or touching if at all possible. |
