OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Waianapanapa
State Park with its Black sand beach is one
of the most photographed places on Maui.
This is a unique experience that most
tourists think about when they think of
Hawaii. It is a beautiful, unique experience
that you cant miss if your making the trek
to Hana.
The Black Sand Beach is tucked away in a
stunningly beautiful bay. There are old lava
outcroppings, arches and islands stretching
out toward the middle of the bay. There are
many seabirds who live on the small islands.
There is an interesting sea cave to the
right just as you walk onto the black sand
beach for the adventurous.
Swimming here is possible but exercise
extreme caution as there seems to be surf
always crashing on the beach causing
strong currents. Although it is feasibly
possible to snorkel and dive here, it is
recommended for only the calmest days, which
also seem to be few a far between. The rest
of the State Park has alot of things do do.
You can do some hiking, see a blowhole, an
interesting cave system and a the while take
great pictures. There is a campground by
permit only and cabins that can be rented.
The amenities include, bathrooms, showers,
BBQ pits, a water fountain, soda vending
machines, and picnic benches. Bring your
lunch! |

PLEASE NOTE |
|
| |
|
|
| |
While
Hawaii's beaches can bring much enjoyment,
it is always a good practice to use common
sense while visiting them. Please be aware
of the wave & wind conditions before going
into the water. Mornings are usually best
for swimming, snorkeling or diving. Have
respect for the strength of the waves and be
aware that high surf can come up at any
time. NEVER turn your back to the ocean.
Be careful when exploring any rocky
shorelines. Waves can crash on the rocks and
knock you over easily, and the rocks may
also be sharp when walking on them.
When snorkeling or scuba diving, please have
respect for ocean life, and remember that
the coral reef is alive too. Avoid standing
on or touching if at all possible. |
