  OVERVIEW

This is one of two trails leading into the Haleakala National Park wilderness and arguably one of the top hikes on Maui (Halemau'u Trail is the other). You'll on Maui's highest peak and descend into a nearly barren, eerie landscape of cinder cones and lava flows. The trail drops to the massive crater floor, and then travels through native shrublands and rugged, exposed cliffs overlooking a cloud forest........
