OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Iao Valley is one of the prettiest and most
sacred sites on the island. A short, paved
0.6 mile walk provides a scenic viewpoint of
Iao needle, rising 1,200 feet from the
valley floor. It's believed that the lava
rock formation, surrounded by the forested
walls of Puu Kukui Crater, was once used as
a natural alter. The valley is also the site
of the battle of Kepaniwai, where the forces
of Kamehameha I the Maui army in 1790. Alas,
you wont have this place to yourself: This
is a very popular tourist stop....... |
