The 2.5-Star
Aston
Paki Maui is located in a quiet neighborhood
near the Ka'anapli Resort area, directly on
the ocean. Lush tropical gardens surround
the low rise units, complete with a Koi
pool. The units feature Studios, One
Bedroom/One Bath and Two Bedrooms/Two Bath,
both featuring Garden Views, Partial Ocean
View and Oceanfront.
At check-in, each family member ages 12
years and younger, receives a Aston
Kids Stay, Play & Eat Free ID card, lanyard
and flyer detailing participating
establishments and their offers for each
island. Guests will also receive a Two for
One free Luau certificate with the purchase
of one adult ticket and an Aloha Deals
Booklet with hundreds of dollars savings on
dining, shopping, entertainment and golf,
one coupon booklet per room.
This is a nonsmoking property with a three
night minimum stay required. Like all the
islands, except Oahu, there is no public
transportation, so a car is a necessity for
any sightseeing.
There is a small splash pool with an
adjacent jet spa and a barbeque area
complete with both gas and charcoal grills
and picnic tables. The Paki Maui has
unbelievably beautiful ocean views, but
basically no beach since it overlooks a reef
beach which does offer some great snorkeling
because of the reef. But for swimming and
building castles in the sand, the property
is adjacent to a wonderful family-friendly
beach park, a very easy stroll from the
condo. Other amenities include an Activity
Desk, laundry facilities, nearby sundry
store, security, parking (fee) access to a
year-round supervised children's program,
Camp Ka'anapali (fee) and a Fitness Center
(fee), both located at a partner hotel
located within a half mile.
There is no on-site restaurant, but there is
the Beach Club Restaurant at Aston Ka'anapali Shores nearby. Located on the
beach, the restaurant is casual during the
day and candlelit at night. Featuring
American and Pacific Rim cuisine featuring
an excellent seafood pasta entree and a
moderately priced menu. There is live
contemporary Hawaiian entertainment and/or a
free hula show every Wednesday. Open daily
from 7 am to 9:30 pm.
For those who want to take advantage of the
fully equipped kitchen, there is a Costco
near the airport and two of Hawaii's main
supermarkets, Safeway and Foodland are in
Lahaina where you can stock up on items for
breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. The money
you save on just breakfast alone would let
you take an extra excursion, or perhaps
splurge for a very special dinner at one of
Maui's award-winning restaurants.
The Aston Paki Maui is a very nice
condominium with reasonable prices for a
property that is oceanfront. Quiet and
peaceful, away from the busyness of Lahaina,
yet close enough for the restaurants and
entertainment that the former whaling
village offers. |
